What did the course assignments consist of?
The course started in March 2022 and ended in July 2022, where the course was done via UCT’s online campus. At the beginning of the course, we had to pick a genre we would use for our website, write a proposal for our website, and draw up a sitemap. Thereafter, we learnt to code in HTML, optimise images for a website, and also code in CSS to style our website. We did float, margin, padding, box models and more… In the next step in the course, we taught about fonts, colour, and what mood they evoke in the user, then used the knowledge we gained to design a mock-up for a home page. We then had to make our websites responsive to different devices and breakpoints. We then wrote the text for SEO purposes, keywords, meta descriptions, and titles. We then had to build a 4-page website and use and show our knowledge gained during the course and how to maintain and update the website.
